Joseph Kawulula, a traditionalist from Namayingo district, says the contested land belongs to the spirits. He asks kingdom officials to support their efforts to construct a shrine rather than block their request.
Kirunda was on Sunday morning confirmed as the new oracle of Bujjagali falls, replacing the deceased Budhagali Nabamba who served the said spirits for the past 60 years. He had allegedly spent 10 days on Budhagali island, prior to his confirmation as the choice of the spirits.

Born Donozio Namunkanga Mukembo Zirabamuzale, the spiritualist, breathed his last on Saturday night after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was chief Oracle of the spirits who live at Bujagali Falls, and the 39th spiritualist to submit to the spirits of the falls, which allegedly protected the community through him.
The suspects are alleged to have convinced the deceased's parents that they were taking their crippled child for ritual cleansing, only to return on Saturday without him. They claimed that he was left at a traditional healer.
The more than 500 pilgrims started the journey on May 7, from the Dioceses of Gericho, Eldoret, Nyahururu, and Bungoma in Kenya, sailing through borders, hills and valleys, across the eastern part of Uganda.
