According to Parliament's Director of Communications and Public Affairs, of the 3000 guests, Members of Parliament and Staff tested for the different events at Parliament for different events, over 100 tested positive for COVID-19, but some have already recovered.

Kadaga has over the past 20 years occupied the office of the Deputy Speaker and that of the Speaker of Parliament. But she has now vacated the office of the speaker after losing the seat to her former deputy Jacob Oulannyah, who was backed by the National Resistance Movement-NRM party.
According to Kawesa, by hiring Kingdom Kampala, space will now be adequate for MPs as they await the completion of the Parliamentary chambers. “We will have adequate space for all MPs, they have been sharing offices, and it is expected that each MP can now have their own space.” She said.
Kadaga’s journey at the helm of the legislature came to an end on Monday when she was defeated by her former deputy Jacob Oulanyah. Oulanyah who was fronted by the NRM CEC polled 310 votes while Kadaga who chose to contest as an independent candidate polled 197 votes.
The Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has said that he has informally contacted leaders of the political parties represented in Parliament over the nomination of members to the appointments committee.

Stephen Bingi, a photographer attached to the speaker’s office who is on contract, says that the mood is low in the entire building especially for the people who have been working in the speaker’s office.
