During the presentation of the results at State House Nakasero on Thursday, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo announced that 84,301 candidates (10.7% of the total candidates) earned Division One in 2024, a slight decrease from 86,582 candidates (11.7%) in 2023, out of 736,931 candidates who sat the exam that year.
Musenero stressed that over the years, scientists have developed affordable technologies aimed at mechanizing the agricultural sector and boosting the quality of farmers’ yields, but they are inaccessible to the target beneficiaries.
They argue that that the affirmative action policy which awarded 1.5 bonus points to girls qualifying to enter public universities, remains insufficient to address equity issues, especially in science-related courses. As a result, they say, the current government merit scholarship for students in higher education is heavily bent in favour of male students.
The three; Samuel Kironde, Godfrey Ssemugga and Dan Kafeero, appeared before the Jinja Grade One Magistrates Court, alongside a businessman, Hakim Ssenyunja with whom they allegedly connived to leak 2018 Primary Leaving Examinations.
Appearing before Beatrice Kainza, the City Hall Grade One Magistrate on Tuesday, Chelangat, who is also the last state witness said she had found significant similarities in the signatures on documents the accused used for receipting the money and their statements.
