George Odeke, a resident of Kokong Village in Kapir Sub County discovered the tunnels while digging a pit latrine in his home about three weeks ago. The existence of the mysterious tunnels was exposed through social media on Sunday evening.
According to the Environment and Social Impact Assessment Report (ESIA) of the project, some of the affected persons will temporarily or permanently lose their land to the development. The report notes that compensation of the affected persons will cause controversies as speculators dive in to cash in on oil money.

He said food wrapped or packed in Kaveera will not be tolerated at the shrine adding that pilgrims should use paper bags and other biodegradable bags for carrying their belongings to the shrine.
