The probe team led by Vice-chairperson of the Committee Agnes Taaka Wejulu interacted with former Presidential candidates including, Democratic Party’s Norbert Mao , Alliance for National Transformation (ANT)’s Mugisha Muntu, and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat Oboi.
The case which Kasirye has withdrawn today was filed by on 3rd December 2020, challenging the decision by the police to forcefully remove him from National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu's car, pepper spray before assaulting when he was doing his journalistic duties during the election campaigns.
The Committee was tasked by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga to take stock of violations that marred the electoral process. It is expected to report back within a month. As part of the investigation, the committee is planning to interact with Presidential candidates, securities agencies, among the police and the army, as well as victims of the said violations.
The application was filed by Ismail Kasule who contested on the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party ticket, against Dr Joseph Ruyonga of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Ruyonga emerged winner of the race with 6,396 votes against Kasule's 6,212 votes.
A brief statement issued by the Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Brussels does not comment on the outcome of the elections, just saying “The European Union takes note of the results of the presidential elections declared by the Electoral Commission in Uganda.”
According to Lubega, this proposed system will bring the cost of administration down from the more than 500 MPs to 130, from 130 district leadership units to 48, and from more than 80 ministers and state minister to 54. The proposed system also provides for decentralized governance system where the local governments shall have more powers regarding mobilization and application of public resources.
Adome told URN that he was persuaded by elders to drop from the race to allow Remigio complete his unfinished projects in the county. "We had a meeting with the elders who actually demanded that I step down to allow Remigio to complete his work. So as a child who respects elders I could not argue with the elders who have allowed me to contest in the 2026 elections," he said.

On Tuesday, Justice Ssekaana declined to step down from the matter in his ruling read by the Deputy Civil Division Registrar, Sarah Langa, arguing that he took oath to be independent, saying no one can influence his decisions.
