As a means of intensifying the spirit of integration within the region, the EAC armed forces have resolved to sponsor the construction of a maternity ward at Ivunamba health center II, two classroom blocks each at St. Mary’s Nsuube and Bukaya primary schools respectively.
Addressing members of armed forces and selected civilians from the EAC member states ahead of the two weeks joint field training exercise at Gaddaffi barracks in Jinja on Friday, Elwelu said that the region is faced with evolving modern security threats, which are better addressed through synergies from the affected countries.
The joint exercise dubbed “Ushirikiano Imara, 2022,” which is being conducted in the three districts of Mayuge, Jinja, and Buikwe, has attracted 1,533 participants from six EAC countries.
The East African Community (EAC) Council of Ministers has recommended to the Summit of the EAC Heads of States for the admission of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The delegates have also unanimously agreed to conduct the exercise within Jinja city between 25th,May and 7th, June 2022, as a means of according the participating countries enough time to plan for the FTX.
