The latest victim is Sunday Robin Okello, a member of Gulu City Boda Boda Association who lost his Bajaj Motorcycle registration number UEW 306U to the thugs at Holy Rosary Sub Ward in Laroo division on Sunday.
It is alleged that the trio who are all members of the same family on Saturday night while armed with bows and arrows, pangas and spears attacked and injured Walter Okello a 32-year-old, Charles Okot, 56, Bosco Okot, 30, and Bicentina Adong, 65.
The truck which was carrying illegal logs was travelling from Moyo district to Kampala but chose to reportedly dodge security checkpoints along Gulu-Nimule highway and sneak with the logs through Gulu town. The deceased include the driver and his co-driver, whose identities are yet to be established.
Now, Nicholas Ogwang, the Regional Human Rights Officer based in Gulu, says while the Commission is striving to understand the Aguur members, the manner in which the suspects are pursued and arrested by security personnel is suspicious.
Florence Oryem and Michael Ouna were arrested on Wednesday and later on the day produced before Gulu Grade Magistrates Court on charges of malicious damage.
Prosecution alleges that the two on 30th of May this year mobilised hundreds of residents who demolished two grass thatched huts and several household properties belonging to Florence Adong, a witchdoctor operating in the area.
Richard Okello Lawang, the area LC 1 chairperson, says the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. He explained that the family members waited for the boys to return in vain prompting them to search the latrine.
Ocaka told URN on Friday that the operation was conducted in Araba village in Palaro Sub County and Akor village in Paibona Sub County. 472 bags were destroyed from Araba and 335 from Akor respectively.
