Col. George Nambafu, the Chairman Fourth Division Court Martial then remanded the suspects to Gulu Central Prison till May 10th when the hearing will start. This according to Nambafu is to give ample time for the prosecution to conclude their investigations.
Court heard that the accused picked up a quarrel with the deceased on October 20th at around 10pm and that he assaulted the deceased to coma. The deceased was then rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for treatment where he died on October 22nd, just two days after his admittance.
Now, Nicholas Ogwang, the Regional Human Rights Officer based in Gulu, says while the Commission is striving to understand the Aguur members, the manner in which the suspects are pursued and arrested by security personnel is suspicious.
Florence Oryem and Michael Ouna were arrested on Wednesday and later on the day produced before Gulu Grade Magistrates Court on charges of malicious damage.
Prosecution alleges that the two on 30th of May this year mobilised hundreds of residents who demolished two grass thatched huts and several household properties belonging to Florence Adong, a witchdoctor operating in the area.
