Hamilton Jackson Ogwang, the National Agricultural Advisory Services (Naads) Zonal Agricultural Development Officer in charge of the Acholi Sub-region told URN Thursday in an interview that production at the factory won’t resume soon.
Hamilton Ogwang, the NAADs Coordinator for Lango and Acholi sub-region explained that NAAD's budget is being reduced and as a result, they have to focus on strategic crops like harsh avocado and cashew nut, which mature faster and farmers can reap from both the seed and fruits.
The overall objective of the deal is to contribute to household economic empowerment through promotion of agro-industrialisation, community mobilisation, mindset change, value chain development and food security
At least 7,763 bags of Narocas-1 cassava cuttings will be delivered to the selected farmers in the district by the end of this month. The task is jointly undertaken with Acholibur Parish project in partnership with National Agricultural Advisory services [NAADS] and Operation Wealth Creation.
The three groups are Basaija Kweyimukya Cooperative from Mubuku, Bigando Agricultural Cooperative Society from Kitswamba sub-county and Hima Barracks Women’s group from Hima. The farmers will contribute 20 per cent of the unit cost of each tractor valued at 80 million Shillings.
In Gulu district, Members of Gulu Women Diary Cooperatives are heartbroken after a 3,000-liter Milk Cooler procured by NAADS became idle due to the breakdown in the Pasteurizer that should power the cooler. The farmers are struggling to get the plant working again.

The plant belonging to Gulu Women Diary Cooperative Society folded operations in mid-2018, few months after its capacity was upgraded to collect and process 3,010 liters of milk daily. The capacity was upgraded with donation of a 3,010 liter milk cooler by the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS).
Gen Saleh says the economic activities being coordinated by NAADS and Operation Wealth Creation should be centralized under a government authority known as the National Agriculture Logistics Authority (NALA) for better efficiency and outputs.
