Kalali contends that Kiiza’s arrest and sentencing violated his rights as a lawyer and undermined his client's right to legal representation. He argues that Kiiza was denied a fair hearing, as no charges were prepared, read out, or defended before his conviction and sentencing.
Parliament told the court that the judgment has effects on the normal operations of Parliament given the declarations that were made therein and that if the Registrar had jurisdiction, they would have asked for an interim order to stop Zaake from returning to his job.

Zaake who was on Tuesday afternoon at the High Court Civil Division together with his lawyer Eron Kiiza and scores of his supporters said it was unfair for the ruling not to be given after three adjournments by Justice Esta Nambayo.
