Bishop Zoreka made this impassioned plea during the consecration of Pachua Pakuba Anglican Church in Pachua Central village, Mucwini West Sub-county, Kitgum District, on Saturday.
According to Rt. Rev. Wilson Kitara, the Bishop of Kitgum Diocese, the bishops will gather to commemorate the life and legacy of St. Janani Luwum, a renowned Ugandan Anglican Archbishop who was martyred in 1977. "We are honored to host this year's celebrations, and we are excited to welcome over 30 fellow bishops from across the province," Bishop Kitara said.
According to Canon Gladys Oyat, the Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, the funding will be used to cater for various activities and logistics, including the construction of a latrine at the celebration site among others.
Bishop Kitara denounced this practice, emphasizing that leadership should not be pursued through witchcraft but through God's will. He urged aspiring politicians to seek divine guidance rather than relying on supernatural forces.
The Foundation will focus on providing college and university scholarships to students with stellar academic credentials, especially young girls. Jennifer Akello, a first year student at Kyambogo University is the first scholarship recipient pursuing Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management.
Pader district acting Education Officer Francis Olwoch says that of the 800 cases of teenage pregnancy in the district, 168 were primary and secondary school-going girls, according to the statistics obtained from 36 government health facilities where the teenagers had reported for antenatal services.
The 67-year-old Bishop was recovering from a stroke he suffered in September last year that affected his movement and speech. The ailment also left him unable to recognize people.
