A section of Members of Parliament have today expressed displeasure over an exchange involving Security Minister Gen. Elly Tumwine and Deputy Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation Lt. Gen. Charles Angina and sought President Yoweri Museveni’s intervention.
The Minister of Security Gen. Elly Tumwine has set conditions for Parliament’s Human Rights Committee if the Director General Internal Security Organization (ISO) must appear to give information concerning alleged torture in safe houses.
The committee’s report tabled during the plenary session on Wednesday chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga followed an investigation into allegations of contempt of parliament levelled against Gen. Tumwine and his alleged attack on Cecilia Ogwal in the corridors of parliament.
In the aftermath of a discussion about his attitude, Tumwine allegedly attacked Cecilia Ogwal for bringing out an incident in the Seventh Parliament, where the army MP drew a gun at her. The matter was referred to the Rules Committee of parliament for investigations.
