A team of security officers led by Masaka Resident District Commissioner, Herman Ssentongo stormed the company’s operation center at Maria Flo hotel on Friday and shut its operations.
According to the Masaka Resident District Commissioner Herman Ssentongo also the chairperson of the district COVID-19 taskforce, they have received reports from leaders about the severity of the food crisis as a result of the lockdown.
Herman Ssentongo the Masaka Resident Commissioner and Covid-19 response taskforce chairperson say they have observed weakness in the level of public compliance to the set safety guidelines, especially in remote areas.
Godfrey Ssenkaayi, the Masaka District Entomology Officer, says their analysis has since established that the suspicious insects are real desert locusts. He however, expressed doubt that the insects were captured in the area.
Kanakulya says after their arrest on Sunday evening, the suspects led police to Kawoko trading center in Bukomansimbi district were they had robbed a pub and several shops on Friday night.
The elections had been planned by the RDC as an intervention to reorganize the industry and enable cyclists to tap into government’s wealth creation programs. He, together with the local security team had taken charge of the process and mobilized cyclists to participate in the elections, which were to take place at Masaka Liberation Square.
Michael Kisitu, the coordinator of the project International Organization for Migration told the meeting that the project is intended at boosting trust between slum communities and police to exchange ideas on preventing radicalization and strengthening stability to fight crimes such as terrorism.
