Abim Voters Welcome Decision to Eject Capt. Omara from District Chair Court Of Appeal 1 1

The Court of Appeal in Kampala on Tuesday ruled that Omara was erroneously elected into office because he was still a serving Officer in the Uganda People's Defence Forces. The court also ordered that John De West Ariko who contested against Omara as an Independent candidate should assume the office with immediate effect. According to the locals, they are satisfied with the court decision because the case had dragged on for so long and yet their interest was to see social services being delivered to the people.

Reformed Karamojong Warriors Finally Receive Iron Sheets 5 1

Samuel Kalisa Bigirwa, the Chief Administrative Officer confirmed a receipt of 10686 iron sheets in the first phase to benefit 411 households. The iron sheets distribution exercise started on Thursday and it will run up to Sunday from the respective parishes. The Office of the Prime Minister launched the distribution of iron sheets on Thursday in Abim district and the exercise is expected to continue to other districts respectively. At least 28 members are targeted to benefit from the iron sheets in the first phase in the Abim town council.

The Abim Resident District Commissioner, Samuel Mpimbaza Ashaka has blamed the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease across the two districts to rampant theft of livestock, which escalates the spread of the disease. He asked local leaders to effectively enforce the quarantine.
