Joseph Okiria, the Vice Chairperson of Apopong Village says they are not updated about the new developments in the power line. Okiria says that there is pressure mounted by community on local leaders about power but they don’t have the answers.
Two minors identified as Geresem Opio, 6, and his younger brother, Dan Ochom, 3 died and their mother, Rebecca Ibukunyat, 45 was hospitalized with another sister, Josephine Atim, 18, and a brother of 10 years. Both the deceased and patients are from one family belonging to Paul Omokori and Rebecca Ibukunyat.
According to the charge sheet prepared by Andrew Nizeyimana, it is alleged that the six together with others still at large while in Akunyuko Village in Bukedea District, with malice aforethought unlawfully killed Francis Opolot on December 25th, 2021.
The investigations follow a postmortem report from Mbale Regional Referral Hospital that indicated that Joseph Okwalinga alias Golola and Michael Ojakol died due injuries inflicted on them. The duo died in two separate incidents on January 1, 2022.
