Buganda Kingdom in Revenue Deficit for Second Consecutive Year budget deficit 1 3

The Kingdom collects the funds from Envujjo, Busuulu, Kanzu, debt payment from the Central government, student fees payments, development partners, sports activities, Buganda Certificates and Kingdom portraits, communication stations, tourism and cooperatives, among others. In turn, the collected funds finance different key kingdom activities highlighted in the budget.

Gov’t Seeks to Borrow UGX 6 Trillion to Finance Budget Deficit Covid-19 1 2

State Minister for Planning David Bahati, who tabled the request, said that of this, a total of 4 trillion Shillings is proposed to be borrowed from the domestic market while another USD 600 million (2.2 trillion Shillings) will be borrowed from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Parliament Approves UGX 2.4 Trillion Loan from Stanbic, Trade Bank budget deficit 7 1

In June 2019, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija presented 40.5 trillion Shillings budget approved by parliament for the financial year 2019/2020. However, five months into the financial year government realized a low revenue performance, which was attributed to delays in implementation of some administrative measures which had been projected to generate revenues. These included the Digital Tax Stamps (150 billion Shillings), electronic fiscal devices (170 billion Shillings), rental income tax (174.63 billion Shillings) and the MTN Uganda national operator license fees of US Dollars 100 million.

Gov’t to Borrow UGX 2.4 Trillion from Stanbic, Trade Bank budget deficit 1 1

According to a domestic loan request presented to Parliament this afternoon, government says that out of the 2.43 trillion Shillings, Euros 300 million is to be borrowed from Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and another Euro 300 million from the Trade Development Bank.
