On Wednesday, the accused persons appeared before the International Crimes Division of the High Court Judge Elizabeth Kabanda. Kabanda told the suspects that she could not continue with their trial on grounds that she has been transferred to the Family Criminal Division of the High Court.

The evidence before court shows that by the time of arrest in 2017, the accused persons were aged between 16 years and 26 years.

Gasangwa’s wife Sandra Kirabo says that her husband was picked from their home in Kabawo zone, in the outskirts of Kampala, by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI operatives on May 10, 2020. She recalls that his captors had radio call gadgets, pistols, and a car.

Mushabe has told URN that as a lawyer he has done his part and advised that Rutabana should now be produced using diplomatic channels between the two states Rwanda and Uganda.

Further, Musota told court that when he was on his way to court , he received a call from an official from ISO who said that their Preliminary investigations show that Rutabana is not in their custody as well.

A post mortem report made by the Dr Richard Ambayo of City Mortuary which URN has seen indicates that Magezi died of Brain infarction, a medical term to mean stroke.

The order followed an application filed by Rutabana's lawyers led by Dr David Mushabe who argued that Rutabana who is a French citizen of Rwandan descent has been in illegal detention since he was arrest in Kampala on September 8th, 2019.

Magezi’s body is said to be still at City Mortuary as police waits for the postmortem report.

A copy of a letter signed by the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department at Butabika Police Station confirms that Magezi died on January 21, 2020 around 9am.

Muhangi was first granted a non-cash bail of ten million Shillings on February 19, 2019 on health grounds. However, he was rearrested by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence within the precincts of the Makindye-based General Court Martial.

Rene Rutagungira who was the first to be arraigned in court in 2017 was first charged with abduction but the charges were later amended. The prosecution alleged that Rene used a pistol and grenades to abduct Lt Joel Mutabazi and Jackson Kalemera, the former Bodyguards of Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda.
