While receiving the vaccines on Tuesday, Ntungamo District Chairperson, Samuel Mucunguzi, urged cattle farmers to actively participate in the mass vaccination campaign to help eradicate the persistent FMD outbreaks in the region.
Joseph Mujasi, the chairman of Sanga abattoir, expressed that providing an upgraded facility with modern machines without training the workers on how to use them was a waste of time. He noted that the contractor had installed short rails that animals could easily jump over and had not provided water reservoirs to clean the meat during slaughtering.
David Koryang, the Moroto LC V chairperson, says that most of the pipes and valves have been spoiled by cattle and the district does not have money for repairs.
Wilson Kasana, a dairy farmer from Sanga in Lyantonde district, says closing village coolers would affect them a lot, saying cooperatives pay unfair prices to farmers.
