Oteka, 41, a former businessman in Awach Trading Centre died a week ago, from Awach Health Centre IV after developing breathing complications. Earlier that day, he had attended a Management Committee meeting at Awach Primary School and stopped for a meal at a nearby restaurant.
The cause of his death still remains unclear but Watmon says that they suspect that the deceased was poisoned because he had earlier in the day eaten pork at a local restaurants in Awach Trading Centre and shortly started complaining of the pain.
Until the new development, Gulu had a single treatment centre for COVID-19 at the Gulu Regional Referral Hospital which has a capacity of only twelve beds yet serving the eight districts of Acholi Sub Region.
The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema, says the suspect has since been transferred to Gulu Central Police Station – CPS pending examination to establish his mental state vide CRB 868/2020.

Alat Okumu, who participated in Oring’s rescue, says that he was shocked to hear someone making weird sound inside the house around 6:00 am. He says that he called other neighbors and they decided to break into Oringa`s door to find out what was happening.
