The equipment include Fire trucks, Water trucks, assorted fire equipment such as fire extinguishers, and horse rills. Some of the areas are; Kasangati, Mpigi, Bulooba, Ntinda, Kasubi, Wakiso and Kyengeyera.
Mbarara Fire station, with one hydrant, serves the six divisions of Mbarara Municipality and the rest of the district. It is also used for emergencies along the Mbarara Kabale, Mbarara - Masaka and Mbarara - Kasese highways.
A Police officer told URN on condition of anonymity that the fire tender was recalled to the Police Headquarters in Kampala to bridge the gaps in Kampala in case of a fire outbreak. The officer says that they were told to ask for the truck in case of any emergence in the region.
