Sowali Kamulya, the Bukedi Region Police Spokesperson, identifies the dead as Engineer Faruk Nagi from Kisumu and Joseph Toyeti from Mombasa in Kenya. Only three of the injured have been identified as Okwaare, Egesa and David.
The eight were electrocuted while extending a tent, which came into contact with a live electricity power line, during the preparation for the wedding of John Muwanika, Police driver and his wife Topista Namuzugu.
The statement comes after two men who participated in the recent Police recruitment drive died after partaking physical drills. One of the men, Nicholas Ngobya (25) was a computer Engineer who died yesterday in Masaka, a day after receiving treatment for muscle cramps. The second victim, Steven Bwampu died in Bundibugyo after developing lung complications.
