The hospital is reported to have runout of azithromycin, Vitamin C and Zinc in early June this year and have not received supplies from national medical stores-NMS ever since. This has prompted patients to purchase them exorbitantly from private pharmacies.
James Ongicha, the engineering technician and regional workshop manager says that, the plant used to refill five cylinders in two hours, however, it currently performs the same task for close to four hours, which creates the need to service it urgently.
Murungi Monica, the Ibaale HC II in charge, notes that at on several occasions they have been forced to use their own money to buy things like gloves and masks because they last received a consignment from National Medical Stores -NMS about two months ago.
During the committee sitting on August 23rd, 2019, the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwiine informed PAC that the Ministry made a request to NMS to procure health worker’s uniforms and medical stationery. NMS contracted Nytil Company Limited to supply the uniforms.
