John Amos Okot, the MP Elect for Agago North says wants the government to arm the groups with guns to protect their animals since the Karamojong rustlers have now resorted to using guns while carrying out their operations.
Only a handful of members have returned the money. They include the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah (Omoro County), Samuel Odonga Otto (Aruu South), Catherine Lamwaka (Omoro District), and Tochi County MP Peter Okot. All the other legislators have remained silent with no communication of intent to return the money or not.
Oulanyah handed over the money to Nicholas Ogwang, Chief Administrative Officer – CAO from Lalogi Health IV. He explained that he handed over the money in respect of the directive given by the President and the guidance by Parliament.
The driver if the truck registration number KCE 448E, entered Uganda through Malaba on April 12, enroute to South Sudan. He was intercepted at Kamdini Trading Centre in Oyam District, about 65Km South of Gulu Town.
