IMF Clears Uganda for UGX455B Credit after "Good Performance" IMF loan 2

In June last year, the IMF Board approved 722 million Special Drawing Rights (an equivalent of about USD 1 billion) under the Extended Credit Facility arrangement for Uganda, to help the country overcome the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. And the approval enabled the immediate disbursement of 258 million USDollars (about 924 billion shillings) then.

CSO's Want Oversight Role in Gov't COVID-19 Expenditures OXFAM Uganda 1

Julius Mukunda, the Executive Director of the Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) asked the IMF to include in its facility, terms and provisions which ensure the active participation of civil society in the oversight of all government investments. This was in a statement issued jointly with Oxfam-Uganda.
