Some of the vendors boycotted the payment of the market dues in 2012 claiming that St. Balikuddembe Market Stalls, Space and Lock up Shops Owners Association-SSLOA led by their Chairperson, Godfrey Kayongo doesn’t remit the fees to Kampala City Council Authority-KCCA.
Ronald Kazibwe, the Chairperson Kafumbe zone denied claims that they have plans to stage a demonstration, saying police could have deployed after seeing street vendors operating at the entrance of the market.
Geoffrey Kasita, the Defense Secretary St. Balikuddembe market, said they should be allowed to resume work because they are ready to comply with the Covid19 preventive guidelines.
