Michael Ochwoo, the Manager of TASO Gulu Care Centre, says that many of the people living with HIV lack food to keep them on treatment. He says that while the Centre managed to enrol back 200 people who abandoned ARVs, 35 of them died due to adherence issues.
Suicide by ingesting poison took the first spot with 51 cases followed by hanging with 26, drowning 2 and shooting came last with 1 case. Agago district registered the highest number with 20 cases followed by Omoro with 14, Gulu 13 and Pader 12 cases. Amuru, Kitgum, Lamwo and Nwoya districts registered 8, 7, 4 and 2 suicide cases respectively.
Through their umbrella body Gulu City Business Association, the local business owners say they have greatly contributed towards the growth of Gulu that ultimately earned it a City status, therefore they should be rewarded with some tax incentives.
