Dr Aate Sharifa Taban Amin the Koboko District Woman Member of Parliament said there is a need for massive sensitization of people about the program since it was rolled out during the election period.
A report by Members of Parliament assessing the program shows that the funds were fraudulently withdrawn from the SACCO accounts under the authorization of the District Commercial Officer.
The Emyoga group members became bitter particularly with the district commercial officer for cancelling the training and funds cannot be released before the training is conducted. The angry members demanded an immediate apology from the officials.
The Zonal Manager, Micro Finance Support Center in Soroti, Simon Peter Egiriat says that said that each SACCO will each receive 30 million shillings while the elected SACCO leaders will get 50 million to boost their livelihoods as directed by the President’s Office.
