During the primaries, Auma garnered 9,686 against 7,250 votes collected by her closest rival, Florence Ongina Adupa. The Lira District NRM Registrar, Moses Okello Auma was declared winner of the Lira Woman NRM party flag.
Archangel Barekye, Bushenyi NRM party registrar, said that he was forced to suspend the election after the youth turned chaotic accusing each other of forgery and this was shortly after electing the male representative.
Now the president has directed Dr. Odoi, to get signed affidavits from the NRM chairpersons, LCIs, and others, legally binding documents, confirming these facts and organize elections in the 26 villages that did not vote.
Singahache has of lately been troubled with an impeachment move by his councilors who accuse him of abuse of office and incompetence. He ran to court and obtained a court order blocking councilors from impeaching him.
“People came in early but materials were delayed, but also as people knew that the president allowed everyone to vote, they never wanted to be cross checked but to vote, and this created chaos in some areas” she said.

Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Sheema South is accusing Prof. Mushemeza of intimidating his agents and forcing them to leave the polling stations before voting was ended. He now wants results from seven polling stations delayed until his petition is disposed of.
Several of the Nrm supporters consisting of old, young, women and men wore no masks and failed to observe social distance in disregard of the health Ministry Guidelines on preventing spread of covid-19.
The voters were required to wear face masks, keep a social distance, avoid hand shaking hugging, while they go through the party primaries, held today, across the country. Despite the presence of Security personnel, a majority of the voters failed to adhere to the guidelines, yet there was limited enforcement.
On Wednesday, President Yoweri Museveni, in his capacity as the NRM National Chairperson issued guidelines in which he instructed that all party members including those that are not in the register be allowed to participate in today’s primary elections.
The legislator who has represented Kasambya county in Mubende since 2016, was born and raised in Gongo village in Igara, Bushenyi District. He has already picked nomination forms from the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party to contest for Igara West Parliamentary seat, where he is already a registered voter.
