Solomon Odwee, a fish farmer from Ogang Apur parish in Acaba Sub County lost nearly 4 million shillings after purchasing counterfeit feeds which killed almost all the fish in the pond.
According to information from the Aquatic Research and Development Centre (ARDC) in Kajjansi, Wakiso district, in 2018/ 2019 the national fish hatchery at Kajjansi hatched only 200,000 tons of Catfish fingerlings out of the one million tons set annual target.
John Okeny, the Chairperson of Manjola Fish farmers says in 2014, the then project manager stole some vital components from the hatchery and other items worth over Shillings 20 million.
