The CJ suspended the hearing of cases more than 40 days due to a surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths resulting from the second wave of the pandemic.
This is not the first time Mabirizi is complaining about the invasion of parliament by the army. In 2018 after the passing of the Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2018 that removed the age limitations from the Constitution, Mabirizi petitioned national and international courts over the invasion of Special Forces Command that saw a number of MPs being beaten and others injured.
The Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo today overruled Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo for raising concern over President Museveni’s presence in parliament as MPs voted.
Justice Owiny-Dollo argued that if Mabirizi had sought to discover his moral competence, he would have found out that he previously took instructions from a wide range of clients whom he didn’t bond with while exercising his profession as a lawyer.
