Oonya, who quit his job last year to contest in the National Resistance Movement primary elections for the Kumi County parliamentary seat, was involved in a motorcycle accident on January 31st, 2021 while collecting information on the presidential elections in Anyara Sub County.
The three who include James Okia, Agnes Adikinyi and Agnes Kokoi were travelling to St. Dennis Polling Station in Bukedea Town Council when they were knocked by Sam Muron.
Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, says the residual primary elections will cover eight categories including special interest groups (SIG and National Youth Committee representatives and parliamentary candidates.

Vincent Kavuma, NRM Makindye district Registrar says the polling stations that were cancelled had issues of rigging through exaggerating the number of votes, theft of declaration forms, intimidation of voters and bribery. They include Juuko zone in Kibuye 1, Busoke zone, as well as Estate and Nsambya central B parishes which have two polling stations each.
Now contrary to the last two occasions where vote tallying for parliamentary and LCV primaries was done at Nakasero Primary School, today the NRM EC changed the venue to its headquarters at plot 13 on Kyadondo road.

“I am surprised to hear that I got 110 votes in my polling station. To be honest, in this house, I got only ten votes and the winner there had 101 votes. How come that I was added 100 votes and the winner more than 500 votes? Something is fishy in this election and the officials know what they did at the polling stations”, one of the candidates said.
Hajji Ramathan Walugembe, the Resident District Commissioner of Bukedea says he doesn’t want a repeat of last week’s primaries when supporters of candidates overpowered the police deployed at the tally center.
At Makerere Yellow primary school, over 30 police personnel, as many as 10 Uganda Police and other security persons have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct of tallying process of election results in the Kawempe NRM elective district.

Rukutana was captured in a video that went viral on social media showing him grabbing a gun from one of his bodyguards and started shooting at a vehicle belonging to supporters of his political rival Naome Kabasharira. At the time of the incident, Rukutana had just lost the Rushenyi country NRM flag to Kabasharira.
According to the results, Matheniko County MP, John Baptist Lokii beat off competition from his close rival Paul Olo to win the party flag with a difference of 41 votes. However, results from three villages were cancelled over allegations of manipulation of the register and falsification of results.
