Buyinza, today (Wednesday) appeared before the Ntungamo Grade One magistrate Shalon Nasuna who read to him two charges of causing death through reckless driving and causing bodily injuries through reckless driving under the Traffic and road safety Act 1998 as amended by Act number 6 of 2020.
According to the charge sheet, on the night of February 26th, 2023, at Kyamate Secondary school in Ntungamo Municipality, the suspects with malice aforethought unlawfully caused the death of Bonus Atukwase, a senior student, and also set fire to a dormitory block where property worth millions of Shillings was destroyed.
He presented four sureties; Former Rujumbura county Member of Parliament Jim Muhwezi, Michael Mawanda, the Igara East MP, prominent businessman Bob Kabonero and Ali Mutebi. However, presiding Chief Magistrate Sarah Kawalya Mponye said that the court needed more time to study the application and come up with a ruling.
