Sam Serunjonji, the candidate for LCIII Chairman of Wobulenzi town says that discrimination against PWDs has persisted over lack of awareness among communities.
According to the clerics, the Uganda Police Force needs to appreciate the fact that the manner in, which they endeavour to fulfil their constitutional role will have a direct impact on the electoral process, arguing that it is critical for police to remain impartial in the execution of their mandate.
The public has also witnessed blockage of candidates from accessing campaign venues, booked radio programmes and other places by policemen and soldiers.
The stretch from Nakawa to Namanve is heavily guarded by the Military Police, Uganda Police and Local Defense Unit personnel, mainly around Spear Motors, Kyambogo Road, Kireka Trading Centre and Bweyogerere.
According to the Electoral Commission, the Presidential Elections Act (Amendment 2020) clearly prohibits candidates from donate to voters during campaign time. The amendment arose from the Supreme Court's command to ensure that even the incumbent president does not make donations during campaign time under the guise of conducting presidential activities.
