Morris Ogwal, a farmer from Ogwete sub county in Otuke district is disappointed that after spending a lot of money on pesticides to manage his tomatoes, the prices has dropped and there are very few buyers.
The restrictions have affected the demand for livestock products by restaurants, street vendors and other institutions. The six weekly cattle markets in the Lango sub-region include Amac, Apala, Aswa, Alito, Ajuri, and Barrio.
Jackie Akello argued that evicting them from the street will not only disrupt their livelihood but also poses a greater risk of contracting the Coronavirus since the markets are more crowded than the streets.
Barros Odongo, a butcher at Lira main market, said most of their customers were not observing the SOPs, adding that it was very hard to force them to since most of them walk away when asked about face masks.
