The case which Kasirye has withdrawn today was filed by on 3rd December 2020, challenging the decision by the police to forcefully remove him from National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu's car, pepper spray before assaulting when he was doing his journalistic duties during the election campaigns.
Kasirye was shot at as security was trying to stop Kyagulanyi from violating an order that had been issued by the Electoral Commission banning campaigns in 12 districts due to COVID-19 including Masaka city where the incident occurred
Yesterday, Ochola said the police beat Journalists to protect them and that they would continue beating them if they disobey guidance by police, a position CSOs describe as nonsensical. He said he wouldn’t apologize for beating journalist adding that they are beaten to protect them from danger.
