Police in Rakai district are holding a private security guard for shooting a colleague in Kyotera town. The shooting incident occurred on Thursday night, 7pm, at a Simba Telecom shop in Kyotera. It involved two guards who work for Security Plus. The guards were supposed to be on duty at the shop.
Security officials in Lira district have offered a two month amnesty and a chance for persons still holding onto illegal fire arms to hand them in and not face prosecution. Manshur Suwed, Central North regional police spokesperson, says the two month blanket amnesty is intended to promote peaceful recovery of illegal firearms.
Police in Mityana have recovered a gun from the headquarters of the Mityana Catholic diocese. The SR riffle according to the police, was hidden by a private security guard, who had been deployed to guard at the diocesan headquarters on Sunday.
