Two Candidates in Uganda's COVID-19 Vaccine Race Reach Animal Trial Stage WHO 1 4

The vaccines manufactured under the Presidential Scientific Initiative on Epidemics (PRESIDE) are using different technologies; One is using the ChAdOx1 also known as the Adenovirus-vectored technology, used in the development of the AstraZeneca vaccine while the others are using the Messenger RNA technology (mRNA) that was used for the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.

In line with the government’s proposal, Afoyo-chan, the Zombo Woman MP proposed that each legislator contributes Shillings 2million from their salary towards the procurement of Pfizer vaccine that is recommended for vaccinating children. Following this government position, Afoyo-chan, the Zombo Woman MP proposed that Parliament deducts money from MPs salaries to rise funds towards procurement of Pfizer vaccines that is recommended for vaccination of children.

NMS Runs Out of COVID-19 Vaccines 1 3

WHO Approves Chinese Covid-19 Vaccine COVID-19 Vaccines 1

The approval means that the vaccine can now be supplied through the COVAX facility and also be used by countries after assessments were carried out on its efficacy.
