The Monday evening accident involved a motorcycle registration number UFX 869D and a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry registration number UBL 145N.

Police preliminary findings indicate that the lorry driver failed to negotiate a sharp corner in the hilly area before ramming into the motorcycle.

The Rwenzori East, acting Police spokesperson, SP. Mbusa Luke attributes the accident to reckless and over speeding on the road.

Jimmy Banganira, an eye witness said the truck first knocked a cyclist before its driver lost control and rammed into another in-coming motorcycle that was carrying three people, killing them on the spot.

Nuwabiine says the traffic police department will conduct a comprehensive probe and ensure the public is informed about the cause of the accident.
