A security officer, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that the deceased, Stephen Lochu, had previously been recruited by the UPDF in 2022 to work as a security informer.
The security forces who were deployed in Napeikoroi grounds received intelligence about the suspected warriors possessing illegal firearms. They responded swiftly and recovered two submachine guns number K53 (01 rounds) and NK6899 (09 rounds) from Peter Lomojong and John Lokori respectively.
The community, especially in the areas of Nakiloro, had recorded a spate of attacks by warriors who are believed to have come from the areas surrounding Mt Moroto. The armed warriors laid ambushes, abducted people, and stole livestock from residents.
Michael Longole, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said on Wednesday that the Forces responded swiftly by conducting an operation that led to his arrest and recovery of a gun.
