Data from the examination body shows that for the first time in its history, a total of 749,761 learners registered for exams in 2020, showing a 7.75 percent increase.
According to schools that URN visited, schools like St Joseph’s Nansana and Sam Iga Memorial School and St Stephen’s Church of Uganda Primary School found it hard to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures due to lack of adequate space.
Distribution of examination papers from the storage centres began as early as 7:00 am. By 8:30 am, candidates were already seated in examination rooms at schools visited by URN reporters.
According to the officials, they received 87 examination papers yet 96 candidates registered at the school. The invigilators discovered the anomaly shortly after distributing the papers to the candidates.
