Tito Otiri, the Secretary for Production for Palabek Gem Sub County says that dozens of farmers have reported cases of the diseases to his office seeking an intervention.
Matthew Opiyo, a farmer in Bungatira Sub County is also crying out for help to prevent the pest which he says has destroyed almost three-acres of his three weeks` old maize crops in the last one week.
David Oyite Ojok, another poultry farmer in Ongedo has also lost ten chickens to the disease. The farmers say that they are treating the disease with pounded guava leaves and Tse-Tse flies repellents, which are believed to cure the disease.
