The Trial Chamber is responsible for the conduct of trial proceedings and is adopting all the necessary procedures to ensure that the trial is fair and expeditious. The judges will schedule a date for the opening of the respective trials in due course, a statement issued this afternoon by the ICC states.
Bensouda says the victims of crimes perpetuated by the rebel group in Uganda and neighboring countries have waited far too long and deserve to see justice done. Her call comes just a day after Dominic Ongwen; a high ranking commander of the Lord\'s Resistance Army (LRA) was transferred to the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Fatou Bensouda has been serving as the Deputy Prosecutor since 2004 and previously worked as a legal adviser and trial attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Tanzania.
