The Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige has rejected a letter from the Forum for Democratic Change FDC party withdrawing the candidature of Ingrid Turinawe from the East African Legislative Assembly EALA race. Kibirige says Muntus letter contravenes Rule 7 2 of the parliament Rules of Procedure that requires a withdrawal letter from the EALA race to be signed by both the nominee personally and the secretary general of the party which nominated him or her.

Makerere University Police Station is still stuck with an unclaimed white male goat that was last year confiscated from opposition politicians. On December 2, the police arrested 20 people who were reportedly mobilising resources to reopen Makerere University. The university had been closed a month earlier after lecturers laid down tools demanding payment of their salary incentive dating back to February 2016.
