From West Nile sounds of Agwara mainly from the Kebu and lugbara people, to Northern Uganda’s Yoo- leng gospel song, Western Uganda’s Ndyamuhaki and the famous gospel tune Tukutendereze, and songs from the East Like Emali, Mwanawamberi in Samia among others, the crane performers left their mark following their outstanding show whenever each of the 529 MPs stepped to the podium.
They include Bubulo East MP John Musila who used the Rastafarian word ‘Jah’ instead of God, Hoima City MP Asinansi Nyakato who used Commander as her third name, contrary to what appears in the gazette and Maj. Gen. Sam Kavuma, who had missed some of his military peeps by the time he presented himself.
The Constitution provides that Members of Parliament elect to take and subscribe to the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Members of Parliament. It further provides that except for purposes of taking the oaths, no person shall sit or vote in Parliament before taking and subscribing to the oaths.
Some members of Parliament have said that the 11th parliament should focus on passing legislation that is pro-people and not focus what political parties want.
Every person elected to parliament takes the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Member of Parliament before they officially start their five-year term of office.
