Museveni who has just started the sixth term as the President of Uganda is expected to appoint his new Cabinet soon, for vetting by the Appointments Committee. Before the January 2021 general election, Museveni’s cabinet had a total of 79 Ministers, out of which 29 where Ministers while 50 were State Ministers.
Some of those appointed in the new cabinet announced last evening include Kyaaka County MP Jackson Kafuuzi, appointed as the Deputy Attorney General, Ajuri County MP Denis Hamson Obua, the new State Minister for Sports, Usuk County MP Peter Ogwang, the Minister of State for ICT, Kakumiro Woman MP Robinah Nabbanja, the Minister of State for Health (General Duties) and Serere Woman MP Helen Adoa, the new Minister of State for Fisheries,among others.
Forum for Democratic Change FDC, the party with the majority opposition seats in parliament now holds mixed feelings about UPC and it is reported to be revising the shadow cabinet list to exclude UPC members who had been nominated to serve in different portfolios in the shadow cabinet.
Simon Nangiro, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC coordinator Karamoja region asked Museveni to stop what he called exporting Ministers to Karamoja. Nangiro argues that the Karamojong also have brains to enable them perform as full cabinet ministers.
