K P Eswar, the Director of Corporate Affairs at Madhvani Group of Companies told URN Friday that the signing of the lease agreement now gives the company a go ahead to commence works on the land.
The land in question in Kololo Parish is part of 10,000 hectares of land that the government intends to acquire for the establishment of a factory and sugar plantation by the Madhvani Group of Companies under Amuru Sugar Works Limited (ASWL).
Anjuleta Lalam, a 58-year-old woman and resident of the area, said that she was manipulated to sign an agreement. She says Oyet now forcefully wants to evict her and take control of the 295 acres of land she is living on.
