K P Eswar, the Director of Corporate Affairs at Madhvani Group of Companies told URN Friday that the signing of the lease agreement now gives the company a go ahead to commence works on the land.
Prof Pen-Mogi however noted that it’s pointless for Madhvani to start seeking for more land before even commencing works on the 10,000 hectares that they will be getting from the government.
The disputed plot, numbered 36-37, is situated along Nyakeirima Road, Nyakeirima Village, Lower Bugongi Ward, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality. This land hosts two houses that previously served as offices for the district Fisheries department.
Martin Ojara Mapenduzi, the Bardege-Layibi legislator says the ranch was established to help improve animal breeds in the region but notes that those in control have sidelined the locals.
