Rwenzori East police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime said officers, led by Hima Division’s SP Susan Nerima Bwire, responded to the scene and took control of the situation, arresting 20 individuals believed to have spearheaded the confrontation. He added that the suspects will be presented in court on Monday.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, stated that the operation was prompted by a surge in cases involving house and shop break-ins, theft of property, and the consumption and trade of marijuana, particularly within Bwera and its surrounding areas.
It is alleged that on Sunday, the suspect while in Kidodo cell, Kasese municipality was arrested and found in possession of a forged UPDF identity card and one round of live ammunition for an AK 47 riffle.
