Emmanuel Businge, the Acting District Health Educator for Kiryandongo, told Uganda Radio Network (URN) in a telephone interview on Monday afternoon that the test results confirmed cholera. He stated that health authorities have launched an investigation to identify the source of contamination.
Justine Ocen, the District Vice Chairperson and Secretary for Health warned that Pader locals should be on high alert. He reassured residents that no cholera cases have been reported in Pader but emphasized the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices.
Adjumani District Health Officer Dr. Dominic Drametu explains that the cases are among asylum seekers from Sudan’s capital in Khartoum who crossed to Uganda at Elegu border point of entry on Sunday.
