A section of leaders in Karamoja organized a peace walk caravan from Moroto to Kotido via Napak which runs May 21-30th, 2022. The walk was flagged off by the deputy resident commissioner for Moroto, Justin Tuko.
Isaac Oware, the UPDF 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson told URN in an interview over the weekend that no major incident was reported over the last two weeks. Oware said that they have been stepping up the number of troops on the ground to carry out day and night patrols with the view to strengthening the protection of civilians and recovery of illegal firearms from the suspected cattle rustlers.

John Paul Kodet, the Napak district LC V Chairperson, says that while there are plans to protect Teso, the government should consider protecting Napak residents as well because they are unarmed and victims of cattle raids.
The affected community is the Bokora from Napak, who have been grazing their animals in the areas of Teso. But amidst raids by the Karamojong rustlers which forced a score of people in Kabelebyong district to flee their homes, the pastoralists have been forced to evacuate Teso, pushing them back to the drylands in Napak district.
The tractor has since gone missing from the district yard raising concerns from a section of the councillors. It was donated to the district under Local Economic Development, LED to help the farmers engage in commercial farming by opening big farms for economic benefit.
The sub-county operates in a small house and kitchen belonging to the secretary-manager of the defunct Bukibokolo grower’s cooperative society since 2009.
